What Is The BMW & MINI N47 Engine?
The BMW N47 is a 2.0 diesel engine fitted to a wide range of BMW and MINI vehicles between approximately 2007 and 2015.
The N47 is known for delivering excellent fuel economy, strong torque and reliability. However, it is also known for timing chain wear due to the rear-mounted timing chain design.
Unlike many engines, the timing chain is located at the back of the engine, making replacement a specialist repair that requires extensive dismantling and specialist tools.
